Dry eye syndrome is a common eye issue affecting up to 30% of the population. There are 2 main categories of dry eye disease – aqueous tear deficiency (low tear production) and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) (tears evaporate off the eye too quickly due to a lack of oil).
What causes dry eyes can differ from patient to patient. Here at Eyes Plus, we offer a thorough consultation and assessment, where our team will effectively identify if you are suffering from MGD or dry eye syndrome and provide you the best possible treatment options:
  • Artificial tears
  • Prescription dry eye medication (Restasis, Xiidra, Serum tears)
  • Punctal plugs
  • Eyelid anti-inflammatory medication (Tea tree oil, Lid scrubs/wipes, Heated eye masks, and Antibiotics)
  • TearCare® System (targets the meibomian glands with controlled heat and manual expression)

80% of patients with dry eyes have MGD

Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)

Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a chronic eye condition that occurs when the Meibomian glands, which are tiny glands found along the edges of your eyelids, don't produce enough or high-quality oil to protect your eyes.
This oil helps prevent the water layer of your tears from evaporating too quickly. When the glands are blocked or abnormal, they can't produce as much oil, which can lead to dry eyes and other symptoms.

But there's good news! It's treatable!

We Have Solutions!

~ ENVISION BY INMODE ~

Advanced RF & IPL Treatment for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction
We now offer Envision by InMode, an advanced, non-invasive treatment system that provides a more effective and comprehensive approach for patients experiencing dry eye symptoms caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD).

Envision combines two powerful technologies
Forma-I Radiofrequency (RF) AND Lumecca-I Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to treat both the underlying disease and the surrounding eyelid tissue: This dual approach not only improves gland function more effectively than traditional warm compress or thermal-only systems, but also offers additional aesthetic benefits—including collagen and elastin stimulation, tighter skin around the eyes, and improvement in fine lines, puffiness, and overall eyelid texture. Following the heating phase, our trained clinicians perform gentle, targeted expression to fully clear the treated glands. With the oil layer restored, your tear film becomes more stable, allowing for noticeably improved comfort and longer-lasting relief.

Schedule an appointment with our team to evaluate your symptoms. With advanced imaging technology like our MYAH diagnostic device, we can assess your meibomian glands and customize an Envision treatment plan that supports both healthier eyes and a more refreshed, rejuvenated appearance.

~ TEARCARE ~

We offer TearCare thermal expression that is comfortable and pain free for
patients experiencing dry eyes due to Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD).
The TearCare system uses wearable eyewear technology that applies heat to the eyelids. The heat liquefies the meibum, melting the thick oil, removes those blockages, and stimulates tear production. After 15 minutes of this centralized heat, our trained and certified team will manually express the glands to clear the melted oil blocking the glands. Once cleared, adequate levels of oil can return to your tear film and you will begin to feel relief.

Schedule an appointment with our team where we can evaluate your symptoms and use top of the line technology, such as our Myah diagnostic device to view your meibomian glands and get you well on your way to comfort.
